June 2nd, 2005. "Southpaw" in Brooklyn, NY. It has happened... Ritter plugs in! The photo above captures Josh, playing an electric guitar - officially for the first time ever onstage. It was for the fourth song of the night, "Roll On." The crowd didn't *gasp* or boo or cry "Judas!" as their favorite acoustic artist slung it over his shoulder. Instead, it was a subtle and cool spin on a Ritter classic. "I've never played electric before," Josh said with a laugh after the song. But the electric came back for one of the "new" songs from the yet-to-be-released, forthcoming followup album to Hello Starling. And with this particular song, one of several that had never been played before, THAT'S when fans gasped...
For the true Josh Ritter fan, this show was a memorable one. A turning point. A glimpse into the future of Josh Ritter and his music. And it looks amazing..
