Between March 31 and May 8 of 2004, Josh Ritter and his band toured the U.S.  They performed 32 shows in 28 different cities.  New songs, new fans, even a new drummer.  It was a huge success, thanks to the Josh Ritter Street Team, the fans turning out in droves, and of course the music of Josh Ritter getting out there....
The highlight of the tour was when Josh and the band ventured back east at the tour's end -- not just because I could go, but because a six show run was a co-bill with the amazing Erin McKeown, and culminated in the epic, sold-out concert at the legendary Bowery Ballroom in New York City.  Here are some pics and other treats from four of the"East Coast Shows" I attended...
Somerville Theatre
Boston, MA - 4/23/04
Iron Horse Music Hall
Northampton, MA - 4/25/04
Theater of Living Arts
Philadelphia, PA - 4/28/04
The Bowery Ballroom
New York, NY - 5/1/04
Josh and the band play to a sold-out audience in their adopted hometown.  This is the first show of six with Erin McKeown...
Two shows at this great listening room;  Josh and Erin again get together for a duet (with special appearance by Sam), which would become a staple over the six shows...
Another great night of music.  Highlight is an extended jam between Sam and Erin during Erin's song "Blackbirds" - something they'd get even better at for Bowery Ballroom...
Classic night.  Band and fans have been waiting for a Josh Ritter show here for a long time - and it was worth the wait.
Josh Ritter has officially arrived.

& UNRELEASED SONGS
Sound clips of songs you may hear at a Josh Ritter concert, but can't find on an album - yet.   From exclusive, unreleased recordings...
"What's the song about Peter and Paul?  Anyone know the name of the song with the reference to 'coffee by the window?'  And what about the name of the song where he mentions 'radio waves' and 'pyramids'?"

FOR THE SPRING 2004 U.S. TOUR
Between Somerville and Northampton, Josh Ritter and his band posed for this photograph (at right).  It captures five good friends who officially made up "Josh Ritter and his Band" during these 32 unforgettable shows.

They are, from left to right: Dave Hingerty (drums), Zack Hickman (bass, acoustic guitar, backup vocals), Ari Barbanell (tour manager), Josh Ritter (acoustic guitar, lead vocals), and Sam Kassirer (organ, accordion, whistling solos).
